Shabana Azmi said she doesn’t have a problem with item numbers but they should be situational.

“I have far less problem with women doing item numbers than them falling on men’s feet. Item numbers will continue to happen. It is part of what women do and what they are.

Whether it is required on the situation or not that matters,” she said during the release of book Mother, Maiden, Mistress written by Bhawana Somaya, Supriya Madangarli and Jigna Kothari.

“For example, Bidi Jala Le of Omkara was fantastically written. It should not be like they are surrendering to a male,” said Shabana.

At the event Shabana was wearing a long tunic style red dress with wide leg patterned bottoms typical of her usual style and flat jewelled sandals completed her look.

Preity Zinta has quashed reports that she has bought a luxurious house in the US.

“Good morning! I’d like to clarify I’ve NOT bought any house in the US as stated in the media! My younger brother lives there for the past 15 years,” Preity tweeted.

Rumours were rife that the actress, who also co-owns Indian Premier league (IPl) franchise Kings XI Punjab, has bought a pad in Hollywood’s posh Beverly Hills.

Preity, who is also busy with her production debut “Ishkq In Paris”, is upset with the misreporting.

Radio City 91.1 FM played host to Emraan Hashmi who promoted his movie “Shanghai” on Radio City’s show “Tak-a-tak Mumbai” with RJs Kaushik and Palak. “Shanghai”, an offbeat thriller directed by Dibakar Banerjee sees Hashmi in a non-glam role which is rather unusual for the actor.

As many as ten workshops ensured that Emraan was ultimately transformed into the grotesque Jogi Parmar.

Speaking about his experiences the actor recounted how much he enjoyed working with the ensemble cast and director, Dibakar Banerjee. Hashmi urged audiences to watch this unique movie that portrays him in a never before seen role.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, whose “Gangs Of Wasseypur” will be premiered at the on going 65th Cannes International Film Festival, says he is still unsure what convinced Manoj Bajpayee to say yes for the film.

“This film is based in North India and required actors who understood the language and the region. I have worked a lot with Manoj and his name cropped up in my mind first. I was sure that only Manoj can essay this role of Sardar Khan but we had not talked to each other for a long time,” the 39-year-old said here Thursday at a promotional event of the film about the coal mine in Jharkhan.

John Abraham’s says he is enjoying the success of his maiden production venture, “Vicky Donor”, but hasn’t planned its franchise yet.
