Vidya Balan and Sonam Kapoor may have received a mixed reaction for their red carpet appearances at the 66th Cannes International Film Festival but fashion designer Ritu Beri feels proud about their ensemble selections.

She has hailed them for choosing an “Indian” look for the event.

Vidya made three appearances in traditional Indian costumes – a maroon lehenga, an ivory sari paired with a brown blouse and a light pink anarkali, for three different occasions on one day.

On the kick-off day, Sonam was spotted at the star-studded premiere of “The Great Gatsby” in an Anamika Khanna couture creation – an off-white sari teamed with a lattice work full-sleeve jacket. To add a zing to her look, she even wore a nose ring.

All the hype with what Sonam Kapoor will wear at Cannes has had us dunking our digestives more vigorously into our mugs. So here goes. In pink Elie Saab Couture at the Opening Gala…nice. At Great Gatsby Premiere in Anamika Khanna love the outfit but ABSOLUTELY hate the nose ring. Top right in Huemn black and white sari and gold Suhani Pittie earrings we were not able to make an informed decision whether she looked good or hot or down right plain but probably will hover and say that it’s a nice enough look but not ravishing. Now where is the mushy digestive?

Our day has just got better and better today. Not only did Shilpa Shetty delight us in her Manish Malhotra lengha but now we are positively green with envy with her look in Anamika Khanna which she wore at the semi finals of Shriman vs Shrimati. Once again she looked gorgeous and we do like hair swept into a bun, smoky eyes, luscious lippy, pearl drop teeth…….do we need to go on?

The fourth edition of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) was flagged off in a traditional manner Friday with a lamp lightning ceremony by actress Sonam Kapoor wearing a gorgeous outfit by Anamika Khanna

She also walked the ramp to mark the opening of the two-day jewellery exhibition.

The show was dedicated to women’s empowerment and motherhood. It began with dance performances showing the four elements of nature – water, air, fire and earth. After each dance performance, the models showcased the jewels on the ramp.

It was exciting to see celebrities on the ramp at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer Resort 2013 Day 1 but even more exciting to see other celebrities and socialites at the event.

Marie Goretti, Mini Mathur and Shazahn Padamsee wore Masaba………after all she was showcasing. Poorna Jagannathan and Shruti Haasan opted for Shivan and Narresh while  Rhea Kapoor choose Anamika Khanna.

Deepika Padukone attended Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Birthday party wearing a gorgeous white saree by Anamika Khanna.

The gorgeous georgette saree draed Deepika Padukone perfectly and the embroidered edging detail looks so intricate. Deepika Padukone completes her looks wit big stud earrings and an updo hairstyle adding a hint of colour with her red lipstick.

Just when we thought that it’s been some time that Sonam Kapoor has not made an appearance we find that she was at the Salvatore Ferragamo Boutique in Mumbai where her made to measure shoes were presented.

Dressed in Anamika Khanna outfit and hair piled high she posed with the silver shoes.

We are not going to say that she looked elegant, amazing, wonderful, glamorous or on the other hand predictable, unflattering, too much, loathe it.
