In its 13th year, Lakme Fashion Week has lined up 86 designers, including veterans Pallavi Jaikishan and Ritu Beri, from across the country.

From big names such as Wendell Rodricks, Neeta Lulla, Anita Dongre, Krishna Mehta to young talents Pooja Kapoor, Atithi Gupta, Roma Narsinghani and Isabelle Mittal have been roped in to present exotic designs on the ramp at the upcoming edition of winter-festive 2012 starting Aug 3.

Yesterday at the press meet it was a chance for the participating designers to promote their designs and many decided to dress in their own collections.

Purnima Lamba, Head (Innovations), Lakme, interacted with the media and said that Kareena Kapoor, who walked for Manish Malhotra two seasons ago, might well be the showstopper for the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.

Kareena Kapoor is likely to walk the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) winter-festive 2012 runway at the grand finale to be jointly presented by designer Kallol Dutta and duo Pankaj-Nidhi.

The forthcoming edition will be held here Aug 3-7.

“Kareena walked for Manish Malhotra two seasons ago and we have shared the work with her. We are already working with her (for this season). Kareena is taking out time for that,” Purnima Lamba, head (Innovations), Lakme, said

However, Lamba says nothing is finalised for Kareena’s grand finale catwalk.

Lakmé Fashion Week model auditions take place on Jan 23 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai where many aspiring models took part and crossed their fingers and toes they get selected. The judges included IMGR Fashion Director Anjana Sharma, designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, supermodel Nina Manuel, choreographers Shy Kalra and Anu Ahuja and photographer Farokh Chotia. We selected a  few photos of the models that we felt made it but we could be wrong. Have a look through the photos and see if you think we choose well.

In line with its visionary approach to integrating India into global fashion world, Lakmé Fashion Week has shortlisted two designers -Aneeth Arora and Kallol Datta to represent India at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Autumn/Winter Berlin in January 2012.

Aneeth and Kallol were selected from a shortlisted group of designers by the LFW advisory board which comprises of prominent members from the fashion fraternity. The duo had presented a show- Berlin Calling at LFW Winter/Festive 2011. This initiative, supported by IMG Reliance and IMG’s International Fashion teams will mentor these designers and offer guidance on creating their collections, pricing, marketing, and all other aspects of design that will help them maximize this opportunity.
