Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s wedding saris and a range of specially commissioned shawls and headbands will be showcased as part of the ‘Inspired by India’ selling exhibition of contemporary design at Sotheby’s in London May 8-15.

Sotheby’s reputed curator Janice Blackburn feels Mukherjee was an undisputed choice for the segment.

“He is to my mind the finest and most original of the Indian dress and accessory designers. He doesn’t look to the west for his inspiration but rather the colourful low life of India – gypsies, the desert, Bollywood,” Blackburn said in a press statement.

If you were thinking that Abhishek and Aishwarya will show off their daughter in some magazine then wrong. It is reported that Beti B will make her first public appearance at Oprah Winfrey’s chat show Next Chapter. As we all know how guarded the Bachchan’s are not sure whether to believe this. So far we have had no photos or her. Would of been nice to see what Aishwarya was dressing her up in, after all Victoria Beckham has already been out with her daughter and what cute little outfits the baby wears. Hmm will just have to wait and see how Beti B makes her debut in to the public.

Kiran Rao wore a cream Sabyasachi saree when she recently attended Prerna  Sarda’s wedding to Abhinav Jhunjhunwala. Nice to see Kiran Rao adorn a saree now and then. We have seen quite a lot of Sabyasachi sarees recently …….Oprah Winfrey wore one and Anushka Sharma. Making us all very jealous

International talk show queen Oprah Winfrey describes her India visit as an “awesome” experience.

“…Great to travel, but even greater to back in beautiful USA. India experience was Awesome. Expands your humanity,” the 57-year-old posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Winfrey, who landed here Jan 16, attended many functions in India including a dinner hosted by socialite Parmeshwar Godrej. She met Bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s daughter.

She also enthralled literary lovers at the Jaipur Literature Festival  wearing a green Sabyasachi saree and tried to connect to people with her message on education, awareness and women empowerment.

Oprah Winfrey attends bash hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej wearing an exquisite citrus tangerine / pink saree. What  a great choice and from what we can see the colours really does suit her.

Oprah Winfrey has landed in Mumbai and will meet a variety of well-known figures and celebrities Monday at a dinner hosted by socialite Parmeshwar Godrej.

That she is here became known only when novelist and columnist Shobhaa De posted a tweet saying, “Looking forward to meeting the Big O (Oprah) tonight! She is the most amazing, inspiring, influential woman on planet earth. Welcome to Mumbai!”

Last year there was a string of Western celebs arriving in India. Not a bad start to 2012 as the latest star to visit India is Oprah Winfrey. Now she is more than a star….she is American media mogul, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist…you get it she is mega. Maybe she  will not be too interested in  Bollywood but she has expressed desire to meet Bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, whom she hosted on her popular talk show, and the junior B has confirmed the news.

Buzz is that the Bachchan clan is planning to host a private dinner for Winfrey. Great opportunity for more photos.
