Amitabh wrote that a close functionary told him Rajesh’s last words in a choked voice Wednesday when he gone to condole the death of India’s first superstar at his home Ashirwad.
Amitabh recalled his long experience with Rajesh whom he first saw as the winner of the Filmfare-Madhuri Talent Contest. It was the same contest for which Amitabh also applied the following year but was rejected.

The news of his ill health has been doing the rounds, but the 69-year-old reassured fans that all’s well with him by stepping out onto the balcony of his Bandra house here Thursday. He even waved out to his fans with a ‘V’ for victory sign.
Rajesh Khanna’s manager Ashwin said on Wednesday that the actor had stopped food intake for the “last three or four days”.
But the very next day, his son-in-law, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, told reporters: “He’s more than fine. He is absolutely fine. Thank you for your concern.”

Akshay’s comment came after the 69-year-old veteran’s manager Ashwin told reporters that the actor had stopped food intake for the “last three or four days”.

The actor will be seen in the new Havell’s fan ad campaign called Havells Fans Forever.

Shooting after a gap of so many years has definitely brought back fond memories and I feel that not a lot has changed at all. It’s good to be back,” Rajesh Khanna said in a statement.
In the ad he goes down memory lane remembering how his fans used to follow him everywhere when he was a superstar.
