A prayer meeting was organised here Tuesday for Priyanka Chopra’s father Ashok Chopra, who died in a Mumbai hospital battling cancer.

Those who attended the meet from the film industry were Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Shilpa Shetty, Karishma Kapoor, Abbas-Mustan, Dia Mirza, Nikhil Adwani, Rani Mukerji, Lara Dutta, Malaika Arora Khan, Isha Koppikar, Arpita, Alka Yagnik, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia D’Souza, Madhur Bhandarkar, Prabhudheva, Imran Khan, Uday Chopra, Rohit Shetty, Zoya Akhtar, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh among others.

A doctor by profession, Ashok Chopra had retired from the Indian Army in 1997 as lieutenant colonel.

He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.

“I am enjoying being married,” says Vidya Balan, adding that marriage neither put the brakes on her prizewinning acting career nor does it have any bearing on the kind of roles she would choose in future.

Work-life balance is possible for the actress because the “Parineeta” girl has found a supportive husband in Siddharth Roy Kapur, managing director of Studios, Disney UTV, with whom she tied the knot at a private ceremony in December last year.

“I am enjoying being married. The good thing is that at the end of the day you get to see each other,” she told IANS in an exclusive interview.

Vidya Balan will host kitty parties as a promotional activity for her forthcoming film “Ghanchakkar”.

Vidya will host at least three such kitty parties in cities like Chandigarh, Delhi and Lucknow.

Director Rajkumar Gupta says the idea for such an activity emerged after he overheard a conversation between a few ladies sitting in a kitty party.

Vidya Balan whose look in the film “Ghanchakkar” is a fashion disaster and Emraan Hashmi who is playing a con man who is lazy in the film Thursday launched the song “Lazy Lad” in the look of their character.

“Vidya is crazy and Emraan is lazy in the film. This song is a tribute to all the husbands and boyfriends and this song is part of the film,” director of the film Rajkumar Gupta told reporters during the launch of “Lazy Lad” song.

Vidya was seen wearing a jeans and colourful t-shirt with an overdose of makeup and Emraan was donning a red polka don night wear. Vidya says she was skeptical before saying yes to this film.

“When Raj offered me this film I said it was outrageously and hilarious I was not sure about it but Raj convinced me to do the role. It was fun doing this film,” Vidya said

After a dazzling exciting time in Cannes Vidya Balan flew back home. Probably tired from the many appearances in Sabyasachi she must be now looking forward to kicking her shoes off and have a relaxing time. After all with bags under her eyes which may be due to the jet lag she deserves some time off to re energise herself for her next round of Sabyasachi…whenever that may be.
